2008 SAE Final Year Student Project Paper Competition
Rules:

1. Participants:
This competition is opened to all 2008 final year full time and part time (Diploma, Degree or Masters) engineering students, from private or government colleges or universities in Malaysia that are recognized by Ministry of Education, Malaysia, regardless of age, gender, race and nationality.

2. Aim:
To encourage outstanding students to share their ideas & contribute to the advancement of mobility engineering in Malaysia.

3. Prize/award:
1st prize - RM2000 + a certificate from SAE.
2nd prize - RM1000 + a certificate from SAE.
3rd prize – RM500 + a certificate from SAE.

Outstanding 1st prize winners may even have an opportunity to present their paper in SAE's Technical Seminar.
The decision on this will be made by SAE Malaysia.
Note: A certificate of participation will be given to all participants.

4. Fee:
No fees for entry.

5. Teamwork:
Entries from teams are allowed and in fact it is encouraged. However a team must not have more than four (4) members.

6. Method of participation:
The participants are to send the entry form and the project paper to SAE Malaysia by either:
i) Posting three printed copies and a copy of the entry form, OR
ii) Email. The files are to be saved in any Microsoft Office applications.

7. Content:
The project paper must be written in English and should be comprehensive, clear and self-explanatory.

8. Key criteria:
The competition is open to all final year student project papers that are related to the topic of mobility. The panel of judges will determine the winner, based on the following criteria:

• innovation and potential for commercialization
• technical feasibility
• presentation in depth
• technical details
• automotive-related
• practical application


From all the entries, the panel of judges will determine the best 3 entries and will then call these 3 entries to do anoral presentation on their project paper. The oral presentation will carry 10% weight while the project paper itself will carry 90%. The SAE Secretariat will advise on the location and date/time for the event.

9. Citation/quote:
The project paper must be produced or prepared by the participants. If the material/idea/concept is obtained from other parties, books, paper or not from the participants, a citation must be provided to quote the source. Any plagiarized work will be rejected.

10. Judges:
The panel of judges will be from the institutions of higher learning, research institutions, SAE Malaysia and automotive related industries.

11. Number of entries:
There is no limit in the number of entries from each college/university. However, if there are an overwhelming number of entries from the same college/university, SAE Malaysia will request the university/college to do a pre- selection and only submit their top 3 entries only.

12. Acknowledgement:
Upon receiving the entries, SAE Malaysia will acknowledge receipt of entry either by telephone or email.
