100% record as UNITEN Bagged 5 Golds, 5 Silvers, 6 Bronzes for ITEX 08

UNITEN had achieved a 100% record for sweeping all the medals for their inventions at ITEX 08 which is held in KL Convention Center last weekend. On top of that Manjit Singh & Associate Professor Ir. Dr. Ramesh Singh won the Ram Rais Award for the Best Invention in ICT. Here are some of the photos taken from KL Convention Center. The list of winners will be updated soon.

ITEX 08, KL Convention Centre (9th May - 11th May 08)



The 19th International Invention Innovation & Technology Exhibition (ITEX 08) will be held in KL Convention Center this coming weekend (9th May - 11th May). Admission is free! There will be 500 inventions for commercialization from more than 8 countries. This is an interesting exhibition as UNITEN will be sending quite a number of inventions to compete for the Gold, Silver and Bronze Medal.

Members who are interested to attend the exhibition, please meet up in KL central at 11am on the 10th May 2008 (Saturday). We will take LRT down to KLCC station. For further enquiries, please contact, Dominic at 012-6962173.

Introduction to IMechE & Membership Drive by IMechE Malaysia Branch Chairman, Mr. Mathew Thomas

Dear IMechE blog readers,

On 22 February 2008, University Tenaga Nasional (Uniten) was honored by the presence of the Institute of Mechanical Engineer (IMechE), Malaysia branch chairman, Mr. Mathew Thomas. The objective of his visit was to make an introductory briefing about IMechE as we were officially going to be accredited by this institution in April. The event started at 3.30 pm and fellow students and lecturers began to flood the College of Information Technology (COIT) lecture hall about 3.00 pm to bear witness to the first step of the Mechanical Department’s accreditation. Prior to entering the vicinity, each individual was required to fill in their particulars and were each given a leaflet for reference.

The event proceeded smoothly with Mr.Tan chairing the event. Mr.Mathew Thomas

explained various aspects of the institution namely the history, the location of the head office and the branch in Malaysia, the benefits of being a affiliated members as all of the students will be, the benefits of provided by the IMechE such as excess to the rich resource of information through the members only accessed online library and the privilege to attend various international competitions such as “Formula Student” along with the lucrative rewards which awaits each member. He also explained the path to gain recognition as a respected fellow or the corporate member of the Institution.
